About the PLH3D-2W engraving laser head

PLH3D-2W is the professional 2W engraving laser head with medium power. This laser head enables cutting or engraving of materials such as wood, paper, leather, cardboard and many more.

Factory-set lens - The engraving laser head is supplied with the high-resolution triplet lens installed and set to 60.0 mm (measured from the front of the laser head to the plane of the engraving). This focal length has a well optimized focal spot size that is suitable for many engraving and cutting applications. This is the best optimized focus distance to start with!

This light 70 gram laser head does not require any additional cooling. Due to the fan design, this works as a fully customized air nozzle that protects the lens from dirt and cools the laser head. PLH3D-2W works with a matching 12 V power supply (at least 1.5 A current).

The head is equipped with an LED display that shows all the necessary information. The temperature control system would turn off the laser head when the critical temperature IS exceeded. The small driver, which is attached directly to the laser head, improves the speed of the diode modulation. This means that longer cables can also be connected to the head.

The analog modulation allows the user to control the laser power. 0 V = laser OFF, 5 V laser ON, 2 V ~ 40% power. This can also work as a TTL with a voltage of 0-5V.

To modulate the power using PWM, the base frequency must be set between 5 and 10 kHz. Through thermal tests on several prototypes, we were able to optimize the shape of the cooler and enable efficient cooling. In addition to the standard functionality, a small laser spot offers the possibility of illuminating boards that are covered with a light-sensitive surface, which enables very fast prototyping of circuit boards.

Protection:

The PLH3D-2W engraving laser head has a thermal protection system that protects the laser diode from overheating.

The analog input is protected by a 5V1 Zener diode if a voltage of more than 5V occurs occasionally. In spite of everything, this input should not be used with higher voltages.

The output of the driver is protected by a Schottky diode, which does not allow the reverse voltage to occur.

Caution:

Remember that it is not a toy.

Laser radiation is dangerous, even if it is scattered or reflected from a surface.

Always use a laser protection filter for 430 - 480 nm on your CNC machine to avoid reflected radiation.

Never point the laser head at people or animals.

Do not touch the beam, this can cause burns.

Do not look at the beam or beam spot while the material is being cut.
